Questions to consider:
1. What were your biggest challenges?
By far the biggest challenge I had was contending with an unexpected outsourcing of my job in the middle of my quarter. An overwhelming majority of my time was dedicated to seeking new employment rather than completing my project steps in a timely fashion. The second challenge I had was in reimagining my original project ambition for something that was actually feasible with my meager knowledge of post-production software and the limitations of schedules for those involved.
2. Were the results different from what you expected?
Absolutely. I have a habit of setting ambitious goals for myself but didn’t realize the full extent of how difficult post-production is.
3. Did you wind up changing your original storyboard/script? If so, how and why?
Yes. As described in the preproduction questions, I scrapped the original storyboard in favor of driving the video with the interview’s story rather than with music. One of the biggest considerations for this was in realizing that there is a large discrepancy between my skill and my expectation of being able to properly mix audio/visual elements.
4. What would you like to improve?
I would like to improve some of the soundbites for the interview. Due to awkward cuts because of unexpected noise, the story was not able to flow as naturally as intended. In the future, I would love to have a shotgun or lapel mic for proper audio as well as a second camera to capture B footage.
