The UK’s Ministry of Defence said that the reports of General Gerasimov’s sacking could not be verified. Reports say Russia’s months-long struggle to make headway in its invasion of Ukraine has roiled the upper ranks of the Russian military. US think tank, Institute for the Study of War also took note of reports about the sacking of General Gerasimov.
